Automated signals for MBTA Green Line

Brabant & Huynh, LLP

Author: Joshua Brabant

The Boston Herald reported that the MBTA is eyeing signals for the “century-old Green Line” in light of the recent crash where a trolley became derailed and injured 10 or 11 people and caused more than “$1 million in damage to the train”.

Transportation Secretary, Richard A. Davey, stated, “We are looking at improving the signal system on the Green Line…No system is foolproof. I’m not sure that even if we had that system, that this accident would have been avoided. That is part of the investigation.”

The Boston Herald noted that it was understood that speed was a factor in the cause of the recent crash but the T had not publicly identified the driver.
